The testing of the recoil according to DIN EN 14299:2004 7.2.7 consists of the determination of the diameter of a stent expanded on an inflated and deflated balloon.

The test runs without radial force on the implant. The stent is inflated with an appropriate balloon and the diameter of the stent is recorded at full length. After the deflation of the balloon, the stable diameter of the stent is recorded again.

The recoil is calculated in percent:

The Recoil-Testing-System utilizes high-precision laserscan technology for its two-dimensional measuring of the stent at full length to allow a precised determination of the recoil. The recoil calculation averages the recorded results. The calculated value of the recoil is separated into the proximal, medial and distal sector of the stent.

At the end of testing all data is transferred into a database system and can be integrated individually into existing quality management systems.
